Like the Sony a7R's 36mp sensor, a7/a7II's 24 mp sensor is not designed for Silent Shooting Mode. That's NOT to say that it couldn't be included in future generations. It simply means many features are hardware-dependent - not firmware-dependent - so they can't be changed by firmware updates.
